Sea Kart - Water Sport at Andaman Islands

A sea kart is a small motorised buggy built to ride on top of the water instead of below it. Two people sit side by side, one steering with a wheel much like a go-kart, and the kart skims along the surface at a manageable 25-30 km/h. It's closer to a leisure ride than an adrenaline sport, which is exactly why it works for kids, older travellers, and anyone who wants to try a water activity without the steep learning curve of jet skiing.

North Bay Island and Corbyn's Cove run the most sea kart operations near Port Blair, with Havelock Island offering it as well. Sessions run short - 10 to 15 minutes - so it's typically booked alongside other North Bay activities like sea walking or snorkelling rather than as a standalone half-day trip.

Operators run a short safety briefing before you get in - how to steer, where the throttle is, what to do if you want to stop. After that, you're either handed the wheel yourself or an operator drives while you sit alongside. Most sea kart routes stick to a marked stretch of calm, shallow water close to the beach, away from boat traffic and dive zones.

It doesn't require any swimming ability since you stay seated above the waterline throughout, though a life jacket is mandatory regardless. The ride is brief and the appeal is mostly in the steering, not the scenery, so don't expect the same kind of marine life views you'd get from snorkelling or sea walking at the same spot.
